For the first time in Vietnam, Van Don Airport is located in Doan Ket commune, Van Don district, Quang Ninh province. The project is invested by Sun Group and has many differences with other projects in the country. The project was started in March 2016 in Doan Ket commune, Van Don district, Quang Ninh province, on the total area of ​​325 hectares, invested in the form of BOT with the total amount of about 7,700 billion. Van Don Airport has also been approved by the Ministry of Transport as the 4E Aviation Terminal (under the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO) and the military airfield level II.
When it comes into operation, this will be a modern international airport with a 3.6 km runway, 45 m wide, capable of handling large and modern passenger and cargo aircraft. .
 








Roofing  style Ha Long Bay
The first point of Van Don airport is the roofing designed inspired by the image of the brown sails anchored in Ha Long bay, stacked towards the sea. The color of the roof can vary from orange to red in different weather conditions. According to the architectural experts of the airport design consultancy company from the Netherlands, this design is inspired by the symbol of the sea of ​​Quang Ninh.

On December 8th, the State Council for Pre-Acceptance Test had a meeting to evaluate the acceptance of Van Don International Airport into commercial exploitation. According to the calculation, after the project comes into operation, it will create thousands of jobs and stable income for a large local labor force, contributing to the improvement of people's lives. The project will also open trade and development opportunities for the economic and tourism of Van Don to take off and contribute to make Quang Ninh an international tourist center, a key tourism destination. according to the Master Plan for Tourism Development of Quang Ninh until 2020 with a vision to 2030.
